Dedication Page to Bill Mundle: 40 Years of PYWC

A Message from Commodore Cameron

September 24th, 2023 marks the 40 years since a group of boaters met to discuss the formation of a yacht club in Pugwash, which in short order led to the Pugwash Yacht Club (PWYC) being incorporated. This is a significant milestone, and I am honored to be Commodore during this special time. l am proud of our club and the way in which we work together as volunteers for the betterment of our marina. We continue to build on the efforts of our predecessors. My interest in the marina is also rooted in the fact that the chairperson at that first meeting on September 24th, 1983, was my father, Bill Mundle, after whom our marina was recently named.

We are currently immersed in a process that will lead to major upgrades at the Bill Mundle Marina, a vision my father carried for 40 years. Unfortunately, Bill passed away in March of this year. Ideally, Bill would have witnessed our project unfold. However, we celebrate his commitment during the formative years, and more recently as a benefactor, we celebrate his legacy. This summer watching my granddaughter Briea (Bills great granddaughter), participate in the PWYC sail school, I couldn’t help but reflect on how pleased and proud he would have been to see her on the water.

Sincere thanks to all who have been a part of this 40-year journey and contributed to a viable presence in Pugwash Harbour.

Yours in boating,

Deborah Cameron
